Looking for a unique, family-oriented fishing experience? Come visit the John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center in Fayetteville, N.C. Built in 2007, the Pechmann Center is North Carolina’s Wildlife Resources Commission’s newest education facility and is the only fishing education center of its kind in North Carolina. Center instructors teach a variety of aquatic programs to anglers of all ages and abilities.

Level II Intermediate Fly-fishing Course

Saturday Feb.17th, 2018 9:00 AM- 3:00 PM

This clinic will take students beyond the basics and introduce them using the line-hand, false casting, casting on all planes, and shooting line. Our trained cadre of volunteers provide students with instruction based on the Joan Wulff method of instruction. Students will also participate in exercises to develop proper power application and casting accuracy.

Introduction to Kayak Fishing

Friday, February 23rd 6:30 PM-8:30 PM

This free clinic is the first in a series of three designed to give anglers and paddlers the information required to safely and successfully fish in sheltered waters from a kayak. In this classroom seminar, participants will learn the basics of kayak fishing including choosing a boat, required equipment, outfitting, rigging, tackle/gear selection and safety.

Women Only- Fly Fishing Course

Saturday, March 10th 9:00 Am-3:00 PM

The fly-fishing workshop is part of the Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) program. Fly-fishing workshop participants will receive hands-on instruction from experienced instructors on the basics of fly fishing, including casting, knots, rod assembly and fly tying. After learning the basics, participants will test their new skills by fishing for largemouth bass and bluegill on two ponds at the center.

Fly-tying Forum

Thursday, March 22nd 6:30PM-8:30 PM

This is our regularly scheduled fly-tying program that takes place on the 4th Thursday of each month.  The Fly-tying Forum provides tiers with an opportunity to increase their skills. Open to fly-tiers of all skill levels, the fly patterns change each month as a way to encourage learning various new tying techniques and development of tying skills.
