Schroeder's Parachute Hopper

Schroeder's Parachute Hopper.jpg

In late summer in many streams from the Appalachians to the Ozarks, southern trout rely on terrestrial insects for their daily food needs. While ants are probably the most common terrestrials gobbled down by trout now, nothing triggers a strike quicker from trout than the a grasshopper unfortunate enough to find itself in water. There’s probably as many grasshopper fly patterns as there are fly fishermen tying them. However, our pick of the litter is Schroeder's Parachute Hopper. It’s a bit o the complex side to create, but Schroeder's Parachute Hopper is a highly floating battleship that turns the tables on trout.
