Think you are having a bad day? Think about the poor innocent bear in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park that was killed this week for attacking on a hiker sleeping in his tent earlier this month. It turns out the NPS hit squad spokesman reports that the "determination was made after officials received DNA analyses comparing samples from bears found near the shelter where the attack occurred May 10."
The samples were compared to two male bears - the one that was euthanized and another that had been captured and released - and neither was a match. For those of you living in cities, euthanizing the bear meant that he was killed. It’s a decent enough term to us.
