Next week is the launch of Blue Ridge Trout Fest at Blue Ridge, GA in Fannin County; the official Trout Capital of Georgia. For southern fly fishermen It is a must do event you will not want to miss attending.
The Blue Ridge Trout Fest kicks on Friday, the 29th with a fund raiser ride on the Trout Train that boards on 5:30pm and departs at 6pm. Sponsored by Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, the Trout Train is an exclusive evening of complimentary food, beer, wine and a track-side silent auction while riding the rails along the trout riffles, runs and pools of the scenic Toccoa River. The festival runs Saturday, April 9 am to 5 pm, at the Downtown City Park, Blue Ridge. Free seminars presented by the Atlanta Fly Fishing School (9 - 9:25 am); Fly-Fishing Equipment, Rods & Reels (9:40 - 10 am); Fly-Fishing Lines & Leaders (10 - 10:45 am) Fly-Fishing Etymology (11 - 11:40 am); Knots for Fly-Fishing (11:45 - 12 noon); The Six Essentials For Fly-Fishing (presented by Guides' Time (12:15 - 1 pm); Blue Lines: Wild Trout and More on the Upper Toccoa Watershed (1:15 - 2 pm); Trophy Trout Fishing in the Trout Capital of Georgia (2:15 to 3 pm) and Tips & Tactics For Trout On The Toccoa Tailwater (3:13pm).
Trout Unlimited will be at the festival with their Learning Center that include fly tying, fly casting, a casting pond, conservation, Kids' Build-it Center and more. The festival will have an array of vendors of trout-fishing gear, clothing and accessories plus a smattering of food trucks. Live music will provide by Blue Bloods featuring Hunter Morris, Dave Anderson Trio, and Thomas Fountain.
