Forget the black bears and crazed copperheads interfering with your fly fishing for trout. There has been another confirmed sighting of a mountain lion—this time in Wayne County, Tennessee. Late last month, one of these big cats was seen in an area between the community of Linden and the county seat of Waynesboro.
The state wildlife agency has confirmed eight sightings since September 2015, with the previous five confirmations in Humphreys County. This is the first documented sighting in Wayne County. Other states surrounding Tennessee are also confirming the presence of western cougars which have been expanding their range for years. There have also been a number recent, documented sightings in Arkansas and Missouri.
