Northwest Arkansas’ Beaver Lake Dam just had its 50th birthday. Local residents and the Army Corps of Engineers are coming together for a special commemorative ceremony. "We are going to talk a little bit about obviously some of the great things the dam has done for the area over the past 50 years. But we're going to mark that we're looking forward to another 50 years of service and the dam continuing to provide these important services to the area," said Sean Harper, operations project manager for the Corp's Beaver Lake Project Office.
Officials at the Army Corps of Engineers Beaver Project Office are hosting a 50th anniversary celebration at Beaver Lake, 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6. The celebration will be held at Dam Site Park at the north side of Beaver Dam and immediately adjacent to State Highway 187. "You've got Beaver Lake that impounded and that provides obvious water supply to 500 thousand people that stretches from Harrison to south of Fayetteville.”
